  Graduates’ pressure in finding jobs

Nowadays, more and more university graduates complain that graduation does not equate to employment. They experience great difficulties finding satisfactory jobs. What is the cause of this phenomenon

In my opinion, there are four causes:

First, graduates lack experience. They spend most of their time at school studying academic subjects and lack relevant job training. Only after graduation do they realize it’s hard to find jobs.

Second, competition among graduates grows more bitter and more bitter and bitter. The supply of university graduates exceeds social demand. This results in a decreased chance for any individual graduate to find a job.

Third, some students don’t study hard. Some of them skip classes just because they have no interest in certain subjects. Some play computer games or pursue other interests. Some sleep in class or in the library. Then they leave the sheltered environment of the university campus, to discover they don’t have adequate knowledge to apply for many positions, which makes them feel lost and frustrated.

Finally, some graduates are conceited. They lack experience but ask for a high salary, which is impractical.

So, university students should try their best to change this situation. When they are in school, they should make the most of their time and put their heart into their studies. They can hold part-time jobs in their spare time to accumulate relevant work experience. They should take part in some social activities and provide themselves with special training, if possible. When they graduate and apply for jobs, they should attach more importance to accumulating experience than to their starting salary.

On University Students’ Pressure in Finding Jobs

About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after their graduation. But now, things are different. Todays university students usually have much pressure in finding fairly good jobs. They always say disappointedly that graduation means joblessness. Why nowadays university students have so much pressure in finding jobs?

In my opinion, this kind of pressure is mainly caused by three reasons. Firstly, the government is enrolling more and more university students year by year. And the growth of the students number has surpassed that of the need of the society. So, when so many students graduate at a time, the chance of finding jobs becomes tiny. Secondly, todays university students, most of them are the "only-child", who are more mentally frail. Since they are indulged greatly at home and havent been trained to do things on their own, once it is their turn to go out of the campus and find jobs by themselves and decide what kind of jobs to choose, they feel bewildered and dont know what to do. If their first try fails, they will be frustrated and think that it is really hard to find jobs. Thirdly, some university students are not qualified for good and challenging jobs. After entering the university, they dont study as hard as they did in high schools. They begin to sleep during the class or even be absent for classes. Some are addicted to computer games or Jin Yongs novels, or step into the two-person-world too early. Because these things have taken up so much of their time and energy, their study is neglected. After four years of university life, they havent gained the knowledge those fairly good jobs or certain positions require.

In recent years, college students find it increasingly difficult to get a job. It sounds strange since young college students are usually intelligent, well-educated and eager to bring their talent into full play. Then what underlies the strange phenomenon?

There are several reasons for this. To begin with, nowadays college students aim too high. All they want are “good” jobs which could offer good salary, comfortable working conditions, high social status among others. Consequently, most college students are unwilling to accept vacant jobs they consider not “good” enough. Another reason is that there is a big gap between the majors some students study in school and the demands of vacant jobs. So companies think some students are not fit for the jobs.

Solution to the problem requires efforts on both the society and the students. The companies should value the students, talent and knowledge while the latter should not merely aim at material gains. They should be down-to–earth in building up their career. Furthermore, they should face their weak points so as to improve themselves and be more competent.

Whats your favoured job after your graduation? Whats your career planafter working in a company? Both of the questions are related with universitystudents seeking jobs problems. Its very tough when confront with thosequestions. As a junior/senior student,I would love to say something asfollowing:

A part of students are aim too high. They always want to find easy andcomfortable jobs with high salary. But, they neglect they are just undergraduateswho lack of real experience in a company. Aim too high but lack of realexperience leads them to be frustrated:they cant find their suitable jobs andare not interested low-salary jobs. Its a real situation in our currentsociety. The best solution is that our undergraduates should change their minds. The new minds is that to be capable before getting high salary.

There is also a issue should be pay attention to. Some advertisementssay:"Only men available". Thats gender discrimination which couldnt be occuredin the modern society. With the development of our society, our women s abilityare also enhancing. Some women even can do some jobs which men couldnt do well.It not easy to solve the gender discrimination. It needs our governments help, our government should do some propaganda about gender eq equal and make somerules for the companies.

With the increase of the number of graduated college students, the grim employment situation is becoming a hot topic. Why such a phenomenon occurs? Except for some social factors, there are many important affecting factors can be found on the job-hunters themselves.

When a graduate hunts for a job, he has to take the priority issue of a few significant factors into consideration, such as the pay, the specific field, the location and personal hobbies. It is reasonable. However, most of graduates usually combone all these factors toghther. In their opinions, the pay should take the first place, since they have been spending the money of the family all the time, and its time to do something as the reward to other family members. Besides, a high pay usually means a relatively high position in the company; the major is the number one element as well, since it would be a big waste of what they have learned in college, if they deviate from it. Meanwhile, they want to chose work which can agree with their interest and preference. Still they offer the pride of place to the location of the job and the nature of the work unit. They believe that big cities like Beijing or Shanghai will provide more opportunities, and a public situation will offer better welfare. Thereby they have to waif for employment, although they have graduated for several months.

Todays college students face choices unheard of years ago. Terms like two way selection, self-employment are not new to them. Many students swarm into job market or look every talent fair for potential employers. The concept of selling oneself rather than hiding oneself is well accepted by students.

Hunting a job is no small matter. Instead, it is probably one of the most, if not the most, important decisions any of would-be graduates can make in a lifetime. Therefore, they are very serious and cautious when that time comes. It is something that the society has taught them.

As the job market gets shrinking, it has also become a must for undergraduates to work harder than before to keep their competitive edge. More students are engaged in their studies with no distractions. They are investing today for a promising tomorrow.

Recently, college students employment has become a hot topic. What amazes us most is that, according to the statistical chart. about 40 percent of college graduates cannot find proper job in 2003. It is true that the employment situation is no longer as optimistic as before.

There are many reasons explaining the huge unemployment pressure on college graduates. The main reason is that the supply of graduates is much more than the demand in the market. What is more, the economic development in recent years needs excellent personnel with more than two years work experience. Thirdly, many graduates have too high expectations. As aresult, they will stay at home waiting for employment with high salary.

Considering all these, many measures must be taken to cope with this social problem. For one thing, the employment centers of various circles should play a vital role. For

another. the college students should change their attitude toward selecting jobs actively. In concluson, it calls for the joint efforts of the society to help graduates.

It has always been a major concern for people that college students have difficulty in finding ideal jobs they want. Some people say that students lack of social experience and most companies are reluctant to hire graduates without practical experience. Others hold that almost all graduates think that they deserve a higher salary than their ability. From my point of view, I think students should pay attention to enrich their social experience by doing some fundamental work rather than just expecting a high salary.

First, most students are unwilling to do the most fundamental job at the very beginning. Lacking of experience is a rather significant reality for graduates. However, most graduates think that the fundamental job neither can bring them money nor benefit, so they won’t choose to do it. As a result of this, most students just miss the chance of being a potential figure in a certain field.

Second, most companies are too strict to the graduates. For example, some companies think that students without practical experience won’t conform to their position need, so they refuse the graduates at the first time. There are some companies make severe requirements for students, such as certain height, just male or female, graduate from national famous university, get certain certificate and so on. It is strange that these companies should have these conditions for students. Anyone could be a genius in a certain area, so it may be true that these companies may miss some talents.

Third, China is a country with a huge population, which leads to a rather fierce competition among students. However, limited job requirement and a great numbers of students flocking into job market at almost the same time will increase the unemployment rate of students.

In conclusion, not only the students themselves have limited ability to get a better paid job, but also, the social environment aggravates the difficulty of finding an ideal job. As a result, graduates should not only focus on improve their capacity of handling things but also learn to adjust their vision to find new chance to lead a better life.

Job Market Strong for College Graduates

Just over half of employers said they expect to offer jobs to more college graduates this year than last. But the signs of job growth do not look so good for liberal arts graduates. Not only that, starting pay for graduates with a liberal arts degree is up just 1%.

Before we go -- we told you last month that the carmaker Chrysler was for sale. This week DaimlerChrysler of Germany announced a deal for its struggling American division. Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity company in New York, will buy an 80% share. The deal is valued at almost seven and one-half billion dollars.

Daimler will have to pay about 650 million dollars to complete the deal. And it will continue to hold 20% of Chrysler. But it will no longer be responsible for Chryslers retirement and health care plans. Their cost is estimated at around 18 billion dollars.

Labor unions are being told there are no plans for major job cuts beyond the 13000 that Chrysler announced in February.

In recent years, college students find it increasingly difficult to get a job. It sounds strange since young college students are usually intelligent, well-educated phenomenon, aspirant and eager to bring their talent into full play. Then what underlies the strange phenomenon?

There are several reasons for this. To begin with, nowadays college students aim too high. All they want are good jobs which could offer good salary, comfortable working conditions, high social status among others. Consequently, most college students are unwilling to accept vacant jobs they consider not good enough.

They should be down-toearth in building up their career. Furthermore, they should face their weak points so as to improve themselves and be more competent.

As a new job-seeking season has just started, some undergraduates and professionals are interviewed about their opinions on employment.

Most of the undergraduates plan to seek well-paid jobs. Some of them are still observing current situation and considering. Minority of those being interviewed said that they intend to start their own business.

However, some of professionals do have different opinions. Their advice is that undergraduates, rather than waiting for well-paid job, should start working as soon as possible so that they can accumulate more work experiences. Furthermore, they can get paid and be financially independent. The employment situation may be getting worse next year.

Students of United States history, seeking to identify the circumstances that encouraged the emergence of feminist movements, have thoroughly investigated the mid-nineteenth-century American economic and social condition that affected the status of women. These historians, however, have analyzed less fully the development of specifically feminist ideas and activities during the same period. Furthermore, the ideological origins of feminism in the United State have been obscured because, even when historians did take into account those feminist ideas and activities occurring within the United States, they failed to recognize that feminism was then a truly international movement actually centered in Europe. American feminist activists who have been described as “solitary” and “individual theorists” were in reality connected to a movement — utopian socialism — which was already popularizing feminist ideas in Europe during the two decades that culminated in the first women’s rights conference held at Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848. Thus, a complete understanding of the origins and development of nineteenth-century feminism in the United States requires that the geographical focus be widened to include Europe and that the detailed study already made of social conditions be expanded to include the ideological development of feminism.

The earliest and most popular of the utopian socialists were the Saint-Simonians. The specifically feminist part of Saint-Simonianism has, however, been less studied than the group’s contribution to early socialism. This is regrettable on two counts. By 1832 feminism was the central concern of Saint-Simonianism and entirely absorbed its adherents’ energy; hence, by ignoring its feminism, European historians have misunderstood Saint-Simonianism. Moreover, since many feminist ideas can be traced to saint-simonianism European historians’ appreciation of later feminism in France and the United States remained limited.

Saint-Simon’s followers, many of whom were women, based their feminism on an interpretation of his project to reorganize the globe by replacing brute force with the rule of spiritual powers. The new world order would be ruled together by a male, to represent reflection, and a female, to represent sentiment. This complementarity reflects the fact that, while the Saint-Simonians did not reject the belief that there were innate differences between men and women, they nevertheless foresaw an equally important social and political role for both sexes in their utopia.

Only a few Saint-Simonians opposed a definition of sexual equality based on gender distinction. This minority believe that individuals of both sexes were born similar in capacity and character, and they ascribed male-female differences to socialization and education. The envisioned result of both currents of thought, however, was that women would enter public life in the new age and that sexual equality would reward men as well as women with an improved way of life.

These days, a higher education degree seems a requirement for a decent job. Therefore, some people tend to regard career-oriented skills as the aim of tertiary education, whereas others insist that universities are expected to focus on students academic study.

Indeed, one of the guidelines of higher education is to expand students academic knowledge, which helps them to become a well-rounded person capable of fully participating in society.

Young adults who are exposed to wider areas and deeper levels of knowledge usually have higher ability to adapt to the challenging world where a variety of skill sets will be needed. If these students only have access to the knowledge of a certain job, they will possibly end up finding themselves incompetent in the job market.

Beyond that, academic learning also provides opportunities to cultivate other skills, such as critical thinking, in-depth analyzing and abstract thinking. These higher order abilities are what the society expects from university graduates.

However, a certain amount of job-oriented training should also be available in todays universities where academic pursuit sometimes have been over-emphasized and, in some cases, go so far as to overlook the practical value for students future. For many young graduates, they need a fast start into the job market; thus, some pre-learnt experience of the hands-on aspect of their future career would be crucial. For those who do not have a clear goal, this kind of education will assist them to make occupational choices.

Employers would also have a better insight of what a newly graduated candidate have learnt with regard to the position, in which case they can hire applicants based on their skills instead of their degree. In turn, universities can be providing a larger number of essential and productive workforce for the society.

To conclude, higher education shoulders a great deal of responsibilities, which would certainly include enabling both academic and employment achievement for their students.

My view is that modern universities will need to diversify their objectives and focuses in response to the fast-changing world, and any institution that concentrates on just one aspect would fail its promises to the society.

Job hunting has always been a headache forcollege students. Though many graduates areemployed right after graduation, some are not. Mostserious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation. The reasons for this phenomenon are various.

On the one hand, a few years ago collegesand universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance andso on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. On the otherhand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go tothe country. I reckon this problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. First, theyshould research the market and develop special skills to suit its need.

Second, students’attitude towards employment should be changed. They should go to small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay muchattention, the situation can be improved.
