Qing Ming is popularly associated with Jie Zi Zhui, who lived in Shanxi province in 600 B.C. Legend has it that Jie saved his starving lords life by serving a piece of his own leg. When the lord succeeded in being the ruler of a small principality, he invited his faithful follower to join him. However, Jie declined his invitation, preferring to lead a hermits life with his mother in the mountains.
Believing that he could force Jie out by burning the mountain, the lord ordered his men to set the forest on fire. To his consternation, Jie chose to remain where he was and was burnt to death. To memorate Jie, the lord ordered all fires in every home to be put out on the anniversary of Jies death. Thus began the "cold food feast", a day when no food could be cooked since no fire could be lit.
The "cold food" festival occurs on the eve of Qing Ming and is often considered as part of the Qing Ming festival. As time passes, the Qing Ming festival replaced the "cold food" festival. Whatever practice is observed, the basic observation of Qing Ming is to remember ones elders by making a special effort to visit their graves, ashes or ancestral tablets. To make the visit even more meaningful, some time should be spent to remind the younger members of the family of the lives and contributions of their ancestors, and the story of Jie Zi Zhui who choose death over capitulation.

The tomb sweeping day is one of the traditional festivals in China. On April 5th, people start to visit their ancestors’ tombs. Generally speaking, people will bring the home-made food, some fake money and paper-made mansion to their ancestors. When they start to honour their ancestor, they will light up some candles and incense, put some flowers around the tombs. The most important thing is to put the home-made food in front of the tombs. The food, also known as sacrifices, is usually made up with a chicken, a fish and some pork. It’s a symbol of the offspring’s respect to the ancestors. People believe that the forbears will share the food with them. The children dedicate the food and money to their forbears in order to show their love and caring. The young offspring will go down on their knees and pray for their ancestors. They can say their wishes in front of the tombs and the ancestors will make their dreams come true.
In some provinces of China, people use different activities to commemorate this day, for instance, spring-outing, swinging, tree planting and making special food. One special food is Ay Tsao rice balls. It looks like Tang-yuan, but its colour is green. Mix the ay tsao juice with the rice powder, then make it into small balls. The Ay Tsao rice ball is done. People believe that eating ay tsao rice balls can get rid of the bad luck and everything will go smoothly. Other activities such as spring outing, tree planting are the other ways to commemorate the forbears. For one thing, it is a sign that people should look into the future and embrace the hope; for another thing, we do hope our ancestor rest in peace.

The Hanshi (Cold Food) Festival was usually one day before the Qingming Festival. As our ancestors often extended the day to the Qingming, they were later combined.
On each Qingming Festival, all cemeteries are crowded with people who came to sweep tombs and offer sacrifices.Traffic on the way to the cemeteries becomes extremely jammed. The customs have been greatly simplified today. After slightly sweeping the tombs, people offer food, flowers and favorites of the dead, then burn incense and paper money and bow before the memorial tablet.

Last Qingming Festival,i return home to worship my grandfather.Qingming Festival is a folk Festival. In the past,In the past, the Qingming Festival was called Arbor Day. But Today, Chinese visit their family graves to tend to any underbrush that has grown. Weeds are pulled, and dirt swept away, and the family will set out offerings of food and spirit money.
Unlike the sacrifices at a familys home altar, the offerings at the tomb usually consist of dry, bland food. One theory is that since any number of ghosts rome around a grave area, the less appealing food will be consumed by the ancestors, and not be plundered by strangers.

The Qingming Festival is also known as the Spring Festival, and most people return to their hometown on this day to visit tombs and worship their ancestors. There is also a legend about the origin of the Qingming Festival! It is said that the Tomb Sweeping Festival began with the ritual of "sacrificing to the tombs" of ancient emperors and generals, and later was imitated by the people. On that day, offering sacrifices to ancestors and sweeping the tombs gradually became a fixed custom of the Chinese nation. Originally, the Cold Food Festival and the Tomb Sweeping Festival were two different festivals. In the Tang Dynasty, due to time constraints, the day of worship and tomb sweeping was designated as the Tomb Sweeping Festival. It is usually on the fifth day of April in the new calendar. The Qingming Festival began around the Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2500 years now. At the beginning of the Qingming Festival, it was a very important solar term. As soon as the Qingming Festival arrived, the temperature rose, making it a good time to cultivate and sow seeds in spring. There were also proverbs such as "Before and after the Qingming Festival, plant melons and beans," and "Planting trees and afforestation, never surpass the Qingming Festival.".
There are many customs on the Tomb Sweeping Festival, including tomb sweeping: Tomb sweeping during the Tomb Sweeping Festival is a tribute to ancestors. According to a long-standing custom, most people in Beijing used to sweep tombs during the Tomb Sweeping Festival, but the ritual was not held on the day of the Tomb Sweeping Festival, but on the "single" day near the Tomb Sweeping Festival. Legend has it that only monks can sacrifice and sweep the tombs on the Tomb Sweeping Day. There are also willow planting: because there is an old saying that "planting flowers with ones heart fails, but planting willows without ones heart creates shade." It is said that the custom of planting willows is to commemorate the Shennong family. In some places, people put willow branches under the eaves to forecast the weather. In addition to these customs, there are many other customs on the Qingming Festival.
The Qingming Festival is not only a traditional festival, but also a long-standing "living" cultural heritage of our Chinese nation. "During the Qingming Festival, there are many rains, and pedestrians on the road want to break their souls..."

Qingming Festival is one of the 24 solar terms of the lunar calendar. The traditional Chinese Qingming Festival began in the Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2500 years.
Qingming Festival is not only a traditional festival in China, but also the most important sacrificial Festival. It is a day for ancestor worship and tomb sweeping. Tomb sweeping, commonly known as going to the grave, is an activity of offering sacrifices to the dead. The Tomb Sweeping Day reminds me of the poem "Tomb Sweeping Day" by Du Mu, a poet of the Tang Dynasty: "it rains in succession during the Tomb Sweeping Day, and pedestrians on the road want to break their souls. Excuse me, where is the restaurant? The shepherd boy points to Xinghua village in the distance." This poem describes the special atmosphere of the Qingming Festival. The first two days of this years Qingming Festival, as described in the poem, had a few days of drizzle. On the Tomb Sweeping Day, God seemed to appreciate it. Instead of "rain after rain" in the past, it became sunny. I asked my grandfather, "shall we go to sweep the tombs of my grandparents?" Grandpa said, "because we went to sweep in the first month, we wont go to Qingming Festival."
Although I didnt go to the Tomb Sweeping Day, I will cherish the memory of my great grandfather and mother-in-law, as well as the heroes who stood up in all kinds of life and death battlefields and disaster relief.

The spring rain falls on the rape field and the rape flowers are yellow." We moved on and finally reached the cemetery. Grandparents, uncles and aunts, brothers and sisters, they have been waiting there for a long time. Some of them were folding paper money, some were pulling weeds, and some were sweeping leaves with a broom. I hurried to help. Today is Tomb Sweeping Day. My parents and I went back to our hometown to visit the grave. On the way to sweep the grave, our car passed all the flat and spacious roads. When we got to the cemetery, we saw a sea of people there, all carrying forward the fine tradition of our Chinese nation - Tomb sweeping. When we got to my ancestral grave, I thought people were burning paper, but I didnt smell a cigarette. Again, it turns out that peoples is to a beautiful flower on the grave. In the past, my grandfathers generation used to walk on muddy roads and ride bicycles. When it rained, they were in trouble. They didnt ride bicycles with Ben, but "cyclists". Moreover, the agricultural smoke from burning paper during tomb sweeping is rolling. In our current term, it is white pollution. Now, I drive a car and take a flat road. When I sweep the grave, I flowers. And today, people still do not forget the fine traditions of our country, and everyone respects the old and loves the young.
Today, although our living standards have improved, we should still not forget our fine traditions.

Today, my family and my uncles family made an appointment to visit the tomb in Qinglong mountain.
Early in the morning, the sky was drizzling and foggy. My father and I got up at 6:30 and began to fold "gold ingots" to burn to dead relatives. Im also curious. I go to school with my father to origami. I think my grandmother liked playing mahjong when she was alive. After we packed our belongings, we drove to Qinglong mountain. Along the way, vehicles come and go. They may also go to visit the grave like us. In the car, we heard the sound of sad fireworks and firecrackers, saw the golden rape flowers on both sides of the road, and imagined grandma. We really missed her and couldnt help crying secretly. It reminds me of an ancient poem "it rains one after another during the Qingming Festival, and pedestrians on the road want to break their souls".
When we got to the cemetery, we took out the items for sacrifice and walked slowly to grandmas grave. Uncle Jin and uncle Jin will light the fire in front of the tomb! My cousin and I cried like rain, and our heart was very sad and sad. When the fire was low, we all took turns to crack our grandmothers head and said some thoughts and wishes.
After completing all the ceremonies, the tomb sweeping of Qingming Festival ended. We left Qinglong mountain in a sad mood.

Shake off the wings of the birds fly in the cold, such as the mirror of the sky; willow catkins in the air out of green, graceful dancing; clouds raised sails, blue sea, even a stone, could not suppress his desire to blossom. In my view, the Qingming Festival is a festival "remembering the past, thinking about the present, facing the future".
Recall the past, is nothing more than a feeling "Qingming, the pedestrian on the road" heavy, "listen to the wind and rain Qingming experience. Grass flower "Ming Yi sad lonely. Thinking about the first people during the first people in voice and expression; think about their good and bad; think of those people was not worth mentioning, but now things before thinking of those who lead a person to endless aftertastes; dont listen, now want to hear but did not hear the words; thinking...... Live in the present, that is, go out and tread on the green. The fireworks in March, the recovery of all things, bright spring days. Its absolutely a good time to take a step. The sky is blue, high and clear, like a blue satin. Golden sun, warm, mellow, quietly hung in the sky, with warm light, warm fortable. Find a quiet park, put the spring breeze into the arms, and then listen to the song of the birds, quiet, beautiful......
Sitting in the window, looking out of the window, the rain, the smell of flowers and fragrance and light smoke and fire, thinking about how to face the next year of wind and rain. This is for the future.
I sat in the window quietly, let your thoughts run wild gallop, meditation......

Everyone knows that April 5th is the Qingming Festival. Yes, today is the Qingming Festival.
Grandpa and I went to the grave to granny grandparents. We put on the tomb of grass pulled out, pulled out in the tomb planted on several willow and then burned paper money tender. After that, Grandpa asked me to knock three heads for my grandparents. I wonder, "why do you have to knock three heads?" Grandpa couldnt answer it. He said, "go and check the puter yourself."
Back when we eat some cold food. I do not understand to ask: "why Qingming to eat cold food? "Grandma told me the origins of the cold food:" in the spring and Autumn period, the Jin Wen Gong had a tribulation and a minister called the meson, who lived in the mountains after the king of the Jin Wen Gong. In the first day of the Qing Ming Dynasty, the Jin Wen Gong sent people to fire the mountain, trying to force the meson to launch a mountain official. The second day (Qingming) ordered the whole country to ban fireworks, only to eat cold food. After that year, people formed the custom of eating cold food on Qingming Festival. I couldnt help exclaiming, "theres such a story."
Its a lot to harvest today.

卑职只卮鹫f(shuō):“是呀!

When it comes to "Qingming" and "Cold Food", people often mention Jiezi Tui. In fact, in China, there are usually customs first, followed by legends. Legend has it that "Qingming" and "Cold Food" were established by Duke Wen of Jin during the Spring and Autumn period to commemorate Jie Zitui. Duke Wen of Jin designated the day when Jie Zitui died in a great fire in Mianshan as the "Cold Food Festival", and also designated the day after the Cold Food Festival as the "Qingming Festival". In the Quwo area where Duke Wen of Jin was located, the Cold Food Festival is already full of spring, while in higher dimensional areas, spring has not yet arrived. The most important thing for the Cold Food Festival is to cut off the fire, because fire cannot be used, so people can only eat cold rice. In literary works, there are indeed records of Jie Zituis character, but in historical books such as Zuo Zhuan and Shi Ji, there is no scene of Jie Zitui being burned to death on a mountain. Moreover, the origin of the Cold Food Festival dates back to the commemoration of Jie Zitui, and this statement was not recorded until the turn of the Han Dynasty (as seen in Huan Tans "New Treatise"). Many scholars believe that this was created by later generations to explain the association with the Cold Food Festival. According to research, the origin of Qingming Festival is actually unrelated to Jiezi Tui.
Qingming, as a spring festival, was already established before the Zhou Dynasty. China has a vast territory, with different customs in the north and south during the pre Qin period. The literature mainly records the northern customs. The Tang Dynasty was a period of fusion of tomb worship customs in various regions, and since then, the tomb worship customs of the Qingming Festival have gradually appeared in the literature. In the historical development and evolution, traditional festivals are often associated with a legend as their "origin", but in actual examination, these claims are far later than the birth of festivals.
